Welcome to the Cheshire & North Wales Human Milk Bank

The Cheshire and North Wales Human Milk Bank was established in 2003 and is based at the Countess of Chester Hospital.  On average we process 1000 litres of donated breastmilk each year.  Our coverage for donors and recipients of human breast milk spans from Barrow in Furness to Cardiff and from Grimsby to Bangor.

We aim to have a regional service whereby all babies have access to donated breast milk irrespective of the location of their birth.  If you would like your baby to receive breast milk, please contact us. All requests will be given our consideration.

How you can help:

Latest News - Bag Packing at M&S Chester - Volunteers Required!

We are bag packing on Monday 19th December at Marks and Spencer foodhall in Chester from 10am to 5pm and would welcome anyone who would like to come along and help - even just for an hour.  Please contact Lynda Coulter and we look forward to seeing you!

Every year babies are born in the Chester area needing the expert support of the Special Care Baby Unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Research demonstrates that these sick and premature babies can have their chances of survival and long term development substantially improved if fed with breast milk.

Milk is screened and processed in accordance with the guidelines published in February 2010 by the National Insitute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) - "Donor Breast Milk Banks: the operation of donor breast milk bank services "
